The 24th Great Annual Chili Cook-Off, held Sunday, December 15th, 2024, continued a beloved tradition of combining fun and fundraising for our community. This year’s event carried on the legacy that began over two decades ago in the VYC parking lot.
Members, local residents, and visitors gathered to sample 10 "regular" and 3 "vegetarian" chilis to help decide the "Most Popular Chili" winner along with a panel of three judges. The judges showed incredible stamina tasting all of the chilis to judge the other three categories.
The event raised over $28,500 MXN for The Beta Sigma Phi Theta’s Mexico chapter, supporting local schools and seniors.
The competition featured awards in 4 categories:
- Most Popular Chili: June Knox
- Best Tasting Chili: June Knox
- Best Vegetarian Chili (NEW!): Cliff Cook
- Best Booth/Costume Decoration: VYC Chef Carlos
The new dessert tables were a huge hit, adding even more excitement to the day!
A heartfelt thank you to all the teams who cooked and everyone who volunteered with ticket sales, the dessert tables, and more! Your dedication made a real difference and helped create an unforgettable event for a worthy cause. We’re especially thankful to the VYC staff for their unwavering support and effort in ensuring everything ran seamlessly. We truly appreciate you all!
