Cruisers Roundtable - Capt Zachary Singer
Cruisers Roundtable
Captain Zachary Singer is the founder and director of Sail MS. Zac has spent his entire adult life working on commercial tug boats all over the world. He holds a 1600 ton Master oceans and Master of towing oceans which allows him to captain ships up to 300 feet.
In 2019 Zac was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis and had to leave the commercial maritime industry. Going blind due to Uveitis caused by MS for six months, Zac was unable to renew his captain’s license or work. This led to the largest existential crisis he has ever had to deal with.
Meeting Captain Eugenie Russell during this crisis was the founding moment of Sail MS. The entire summer of 2019, Captain Eugenie taught Zac how to sail. After being brought back to life while blind, unemployed, and newly diagnosed with a terrifying chronic illness, Zac wondered what it could do for others. The rest is history.
Come meet him and hear his story!

POSTPONED: Cruisers Roundtable - The Ocean in Purgatory Project - Mike Danielson and Friends
Due to injury, we have to postpone this event.
Mike Danielson of PV Sailing started The Ocean in Purgatory Project 9 years ago, restoring a local catamaran with a mission to have students learn more about our ocean and marine life.
Since 2014, the vessel has never moved and remained in Nuevo Vallarta.
But... It looks like Mike has another chance to produce this mission!
The project; The 51' Performance Catamaran "Purgatory" is the sailing platform for the Marine Science program "The Ocean in Purgatory Project"
The Ocean in Purgatory Project is a Marine Science research program. The classroom is Banderas Bay and the Ocean coast of Pacific Mexico.
The Catamaran "Purgatory" is the lab. Students from all over North America are involved in a research study program to help identify our human impact on the Ocean and monitor its state of health.
We need to change our destructive trend …. If we kill the ocean we kill ourselves.
Students that sail on Purgatory will be studying on a totally “Green” platform as well as be part of the sailing team while onboard.
The quest is to run a Plankton, Humpback Whale, and Manta Ray survey for the region, monitor the interaction between tourism and this unique marine population, sample water quality, and 3D map the bay.
