PEACE, Manos de Amor - Taste of Bucerias
Starting Wednesday there will be chalk artists starting their beautiful renderings directly on the street. This year's theme is The Culture of Mexico and Grupo Real del Mar is Sponsoring a purse of 10,000 pesos for the Winners. Also different Charities will have tables to inform you of their goals and sell products to support their causes. Be sure to buy your raffle ticket from Manos de Amor and be eligible to win 5,000, 3,000 or 2,000 pesos. Every penny from the sale of the raffle tickets goes to Manos de Amor. Also, over 20 crafts people selling everything under the sun. And how would you like to eat at restaurants like Cafe des Artists, Sanzibar, Karen's or Ginger for only 10, 20 or 30 pesos? Well that's all it will cost you at The Taste of Riviera Nayarit. Restaurants Manta, Ikuai, Bambuu, Pie in the Sky, Zibarita, Pacifica and Lazaro are also participating. 5 pesos of every Taste Ticket purchased goes to PEACE. With live music from Juan-Ted and the Rhythm Rooster on Wednesday the 18th, this is going to be THE SPOT this week......the Bucerias Street Festival takes place on Lazaro Cardenas between Galeana and Benito Juarez Wednesday and Thursday this week. BBCC - History of Mexican Music
The Bucerias Bilingual Community Center will host a presentation on the History of Mexican Music by Noble 'Horacio' Dunson. Come early to enjoy the food and beverages from various vendors 6:00 - 6:30 pm. Noble's presentation begins at 7:00 pm. Call 329-298-3527 between 10:00am - 3:00pm for more information. These events, classes and workshops at the BBCC all contribute to the continued support of this non-profit community center. Donations, fees, contributions by attendees and vendors, revenue-sharing, they all keep the BBCC going.

The 3rd Annual Art Gala for PEACE is January 20th, 2012. Their largest fundraiser of the year is taking place in a private home in El Farallon, Los Veneros, Casa China Blanca, an exclusive villa located on the shore. It was used as the set of a recent film, Limitless. The evening includes a live art auction featuring local and national artists plus a silent auction. Food will be catered by Benitto's Paninoteca. Many of the artists will be present that evening to share information about their art and mingle with the guests. For more information click here. Admission $1,000 pesos, event is 6:00-10:00 pm.

Tour the most beautiful homes in the area, while supporting a good cause! Starting Nov 22, 2011 and continuing through March 27, 2012 you can tour a different home each week. The 3 hour tour visits 4 unique homes each weekand ends at a small family-owned local restaurant for an authentic tortilla-making demonstration by 88-year old “Mama Lucas,” with complimentary tortilla and salsa samples. Funds from the Home Tours directly support the charitable programs of PEACE including the community garden in Caloso, a mobile educational classroom, adult education classes and the Work for Food program. Bucerias Bilingual Community Center in conjunction with the new Bucerias Library (Biblioteca Rey Nayar) is holding a Bingo fundraising event. Location is Breakers Bar, admission is $150 pesos for 4 games of Bingo. Prize for each game with a 50/50 raffle. Also, there will be a special meal and drink menu for players. Valentine's Eve Murder Mystery Dinner Theater to benefit the Bucerias Bilingual Community Center!
Benefit - Arts for the Turtles
Sea turtles are a keystone species, a true indicator of the health and vitality of sea life and the Banderas Bay future generations will know. The Campamento Tortugero protects over nine thousand nests annually in an effort to return us to sustainable turtle populations. It is the largest camp in Nayarit, and presents sunset hatchling "liberaciones", which you are also invited to attend. The Preserve depends on these events to support the ongoing protection of the threatened Olive Ridley species.
Numerous local artists will provide paintings, sculptures, baked goods, and artistry of various disciplines. There will be a live auction, a special luncheon by the Seahorse Restaurant, live music, and much more on the oceanfront terrace. Admission is free. Come and have a great time while saving the turtles.
