Steve's talk and slide presentation will provide first-time “puddlejumpers” with advice on routes from Mexico to the French Polynesian islands known as the Marquesas, as well as suggestions for routes through the Marquesas to maximize islands and anchorages visited, while taking advantage of the prevailing winds to minimize upwind sailing. The attractions and dangers of several anchorages will be discussed as well as some general comments about provisioning opportunities and clearance procedures. Recommendations for short-stay (one week) and long-stay (three weeks+) intineraries will be presented. He will also briefly touch on routes through the Tuamotus and options for cyclone season.
