‍Commodore's Corner | ‍‍Hola Amigos!
Happy Fall! High season is on the horizon and I am incrediby proud and excited about the progress and opportunities in store for the club this year! First, a huge thank you to all who contributed to our summer fundraising drive. I'm humbled and encouraged by your generosity and support as I can report that the funds raised will ensure our club moves forward with gusto! Â
Our new location allows us to become more involved in our community. We let our community know who we are, what we are about and we are finding new ways to support the community that supports us. You will see more community themes throughout our activities this year. Our Rear Commodore, Andy Barrow, and his team will be organizing support days for orphanages, introducing kids to the water and hosting engaging talk series, among other initiatives. We're a club with purpose, and we have fun doing it! Be sure to check out our online calendar for a variety of new and traditional events, activities and opportunities.  All this sound energizing? Tell your friends and invite them to join the fun! Our "All Aboard Membership Drive" runs through year-end with Open Houses and New Member Benefits. Remember, you benefit too when you bring in a new member - check out the details.Â
I look foward to welcoming you as you make your way back to Banderas Bay!
Cheers! |

| ‍Social Media Helps Build VYC CommunityAnn Bloomquist's love/hate relationshp with Social Media | | ‍To be honest, I feel like I’ve been dragged into Social Media kicking and screaming. It’s like when I visited my mom and I had to program her VCR every time. Now, my 22 year old son teaches me how to watch his life on Snapchat and TicTok. But I’m not going there yet. Facebook and Instagram….okay, I’ll bite. Â

| | | Meet Linda Green, affectionately known as the Matriarch of VYC. Linda shares insights into the club's history, highlights her proudest moments, and explains why she chose to "retire" to VYC.
Â
‍Linda, you were around for the founding of Vallarta Yacht Club. Tell us about that time and what was most notable about the club’s founding. Â
When the club was founded, Paradise Village consisted of A and B Dock. Significantly smaller than what we see today. There was a small cadre of boat owners, basically expats led by Jim Ketler who wanted to form a yacht club and had been working on it for several years. The area was not developed at all like we see today. | | ‍Banderas Bay Regatta 2025"They had a party and a yacht race broke out!" | ‍What is the Banderas Bay Regatta? Â
Now in its 32nd year, Regata Internacional Bahia de Banderas (Banderas Bay Regatta) has been the high point of the Banderas Bay racing season for decades. The event is, and will always be, a cruisers' regatta, with the goal of providing a safe, low-key venue for cruising yachts and even a few racing yachts ranging in size from 20 to 100 feet. Race courses and race classes are designed for fun and ease of sailing for those boats that may not necessarily be designed or intended to be raced. The intention of the event is to have fun on the water. Success is measured in smiles. Â
