WHAT'S NEW AT VYC
From the beginning, Vallarta Yacht Club has been about supporting activities on the water, from hosting international competitions, to cruising, fishing, and teaching the next generation of sailors. We are proud of our history of support of the boating community, and look forward to a future filled with fun and achievement.
Some of the many things that VYC's On The Water programs do:
- Act as event hosts for sailing competitions.
- Support local and international sailing competitions with volunteer personnel and equipment.
- Provide technical support for on-the-water events such as event-specific web sites, registration, handicapping, and scoring.
- Support the cruising community through local advice and facilitation of contacts with local service providers.
- Host seminars specific to cruising on many subjects of interest to the cruising and boating community, such as boat maintenance, weather forecasting skills, rig trim, wildlife knowledge, etc.
- Provide an online suite of Weather Resources to communicate local and regional weather forecasts, particularly during hurricane season.
- Provide advice about destinations and wildlife for cruisers who wish to explore Banderas Bay.
Welcome to the Vallarta Yacht Club!
Since opening our doors in 2002, our mission has always been to create a special place where members and the local community can come together, share their passion for sailing and the sea, while making lasting friendships along the way.
As a proud member of the Mexican Sailing Federation (FMV), we’ve worked hard to promote sailing, get kids on the water and encourage more people to experience Banderas Bay. We regularly host local, national and international boating events and regattas in the world famous Banderas Bay. Our Junior Sailing program turns out world-class sailors, and even a few Olympians.
In addition to sailing, our members enjoy spending time together at music events, charitable activities, whale watching and much more. The camaraderie of shared paradise makes this a very special place. You can hang out at Picante Grill, our club restaurant and bar, and enjoy your favorite drinks and delicious food at reasonable prices.
The Vallarta Yacht Club was founded and continues to be guided by our three missions:
To provide a comfortable and active social environment for members and guests in Banderas Bay who have an interest in yachting, other aquatic activities, sport fishing, diving, and related social activities where they can feel part of a friendly community.
To promote, support and organize regional, national and international aquatic events such as sailing regattas, sport fishing tournaments as well as marine training and educational programs and seminars.
To sponsor charitable events and activities which benefit the Banderas Bay region and its residents.
In 2023, we moved into a new location and quickly made it our home through the boundless energy of our members and staff. It’s been an amazing ride over the past two decades thanks to the incredible participation and support of our members.
See you at the club!

The Vallarta Yacht Club was founded in 2002 by a group of cruising enthusiasts with a desire to celebrate yachting life, promote Banderas Bay as a world-class sailing destination, and encourage people from all walks of life to participate in a life on the water. Today, VYC has evolved from a small group of cruising enthusiasts to being regarded as the premier yacht club on Banderas Bay hosting regional, national and international championships as well as an active junior sailing program at all levels.
The Vallarta Yacht Club was founded on three principles:
To provide a comfortable and active social environment for members and guests in Banderas Bay who have an interest in yachting, other aquatic activities, sport fishing, diving, and related social activities and feel part of a friendly community.
To promote, support and organize regional, national and international aquatic events such as sailing regattas, sport fishing tournaments as well as marine training and educational programs and seminars. Whether you’re here to join in, learn something new, or just have a good time, our goal is to make sure you have a great experience.
To commit to giving back to our community. We sponsor charitable events and activities to help make Banderas Bay an even better place to live and visit.
