Project Manta is a group of researchers and students in Bahía de Banderas whose purpose is to support the marine conservation of the giant manta (Mobula birostris) through research, capacity development, citizen science and dissemination.
Action for Mantas, a partner of The Manta Trust, takes a multidisciplinary approach to the worldwide conservation of manta rays and their habitat through robust science and research, while raising awareness and providing education to the general public and community stakeholders alike.
Join Aldo from Project Manta as he shares his wealth of knowledge of these fascinating and mysterious creatures with whom we share the Bay. The giant mantas are incredibly interesting, and Aldo, a key researcher, knows a lot about them and is very excited to share that information with our Club! He will have slides to accompany his remarks.
Please join us for a very special presentation by Marilyn and Jim Moxin who are establishing a badly needed care home for seniors in our area. Ground has been broken on this compassionate project, and they will be here to explain how they started, why they started and what they hope to accomplish and provide for the community. Please come and listen to these two catalysts for transformation in Bucerias. You will be inspired by their story and by their great work.
The Barra de Navidad Cruise-In Week is a combination of cruiser fun and volunteering to help fundraise for Barra’s six kindergarten, elementary and middle schools. You will have the opportunity to contribute by hosting paying passengers your boat for a few hours, volunteering at a “work day” at one of the schools, spending an evening to enjoy entertainment and locally prepared food, or entering in the second annual Flamingo Regatta boat “FUNd Race”. Not enough? How about water volleyball and concerts on the Malecon? Follow the Facebook page “Cruise-In Week, Barra de Navidad, Jalisco” or email cruiseineweek@gmail.com for updates, registration information, and schedules. We look forward to seeing you!
