Good news (we need some following the loss of Randy), almost all the current, phenomenal, board will be running for re-election. Notice we said “running”, not “returning.” That’s because any flag or gold flag VYC member can become a candidate for any office except Commodore. A candidate for Commodore must have served at least one year on the board.  There will be a ballot where there can be more than one candidate for a given position, and there will also be a space for write-ins. Election day will be March 25

Now for some details. Three people are leaving the board. One is Randy Hough, of course. Eric Bloomquist has stepped forward to continue as a candidate for Commodore. The second is Bart Goodell, who will be retiring from his Director of Junior Sailing position after six fantastic years of building the program. Leonardo Uribe has volunteered to be a candidate. Dave Gould is retiring as On-the-Water director. As of today, we do not have a candidate for that position.

Eric’s candidacy for Commodore leaves his former position as Club Development Director open. We also do not have a candidate yet for that position.

However, just because we have a candidate for almost every position doesn’t mean you can’t run. There is room on the ballot for multiple candidates for every office. Don’t be reluctant to step forward. And, if you think of someone else who would be good on the board, please let us know.
