I hope this message finds you well and you are enjoying the beginning of the New Year. I am writing to inform you of several exciting updates and important dates for our VYC community.
Annual General Meeting
Our Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be held on March 25th at 4:00pm. This is an important occasion for all of us to gather, reflect on the past year, and look ahead to the future of our club. During the meeting, we will hold the election of new board members; the Changing of the Watch ceremony will take place April 1st. We strongly encourage all members to attend. Full details of the meeting agenda will be sent in advance, but please mark your calendars now!
Nominating Committee
I am pleased to announce that Dick Locke has graciously agreed to serve as the Chair of the Nominating Committee for this year. Dick’s vast experience and dedication to the club make him an excellent choice, and we are confident he will lead the committee in selecting strong candidates for our leadership positions.If you would like to nominate someone, or are interested in becoming a board member yourself, please contact Dick at dlockesf@gmail.com.
Fundraising Success
I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributed to our wildly successful fundraising events at the start of the season. We exceeded our expectations and raised the following amounts:
Junior Sailing Fundraiser: 149,000 pesos
Chili Cook-Off: 28,500 pesos
Casino Night: 100,000 pesos
The funds raised through these events will be donated to local charities, as well as directly support our Junior Sailing Program and the club at large. Your generosity ensures that we can continue to make a positive impact on our community and provide valuable opportunities for our youth and members.
New Member Promo Extended
Our Fall Membership Drive has been very successful, bringing in several new members and significantly growing our community. Due to the positive response and enthusiasm, we are excited to extend the New Member Promotion until January 14th. If you know someone who would benefit from joining our club, now is the perfect time to encourage them to take advantage of this special offer.
New Members’ Dinner
To welcome our new members, we will be hosting a New Member's Dinner on January 14th at 5:30. This will be a wonderful opportunity to meet new faces, enjoy a delicious meal, and celebrate our growing community.The evening will begin with a Welcome Toast and general welcome at 5:30 PM, followed by a delicious dinner at 6:00 PM. To make the evening even more special, Sound Harmony will be playing live music on the patio throughout the evening. The dinner is complimentary for new members, and as a gesture of appreciation, all members will receive a drink on the house from the Commodore and a special meal price.
